During the Addon Domain addition process, which is one of cPanel’s features, you may receive an error like the one below related to NS addresses. If
you do not point the nameserver addresses of the site you want to add as an Addon Domain to the server you want to add it to, cPanel will not allow you to add the domain name and will show the following error.
Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to
/etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver. After this error, you need to do one of the following two steps to be able to add your domain name.
1- You can point the nameserver addresses to the NS addresses of the server you want to add your domain to, through the company where you registered your domain.
2- You need to register the IP addresses of your domain’s current NS addresses in the /etc/ips.remotedns directory mentioned in the error. If you are using a server with root access, you can do this operation. However, if you are using a shared
server, you will need to request this operation from your hosting company. Not every hosting company may perform this operation.
