This is the section where we restart the services installed on our server. As an example, the http (Apache) service has been restarted in the image below. You can restart any service you need from the Restart Services section.

CSF Firewall is a firewall plugin installed on cPanel servers. This plugin works on physical servers and Hypervisor-based VDS virtual servers. It does not work properly on VPS virtual servers (software-virtualized servers). The installation of this iptables-based software can be found in the “Installations” document. For now, we will talk about its general settings.
After completing the installation, when you refresh your WHM page, you can see CSF in the Addons section at the bottom of the left panel. When you log in;

Check server security: Checks your server security and marks those with security vulnerabilities or unnecessary ones in red. If you address the values marked in red, your server security will be increased.

Firewall security level: This is the section containing default settings for the firewall. It is divided into low, medium, and high. If you do not want to deal with the settings, you can select the one that suits you here.

Firewall allow ips: You can manually set the IPs that are allowed to access the server.

Firewall deny ips: You can manually set the IPs that are not allowed to access the server.

Firewall rules: Allows you to review your current firewall rule sets.

Firewall disable: Disables the firewall.

Firewall enable: Enables the firewall.

Firewall start: Starts the firewall.

Firewall restart: Restarts the firewall.

Firewall stop: Stops the firewall.

Quick allow: As a firewall working principle, when account holders on the server fail to log in to their accounts with multiple wrong passwords or for another reason, the server perceives this as a threat and bans the IP address. This is a common situation if the server is running hosting services. With “quick allow”, the IP address in use can be added to the safe list to prevent it from being banned.

Quick deny: If you detect a user IP address that could truly threaten or harm the server, you can ban it from here.

Deny server ips: Bans requests coming to any IP address on the server.

lfd log lfd: It is one of CSF’s helpers. It monitors errors in the system and sends you an email.

For the security of your account, SSH access in cPanel is closed by many companies. If you have permission, you can activate it by clicking the SSH access tab and connect via SSH using your FTP login credentials through Putty. (Netinternet does not grant SSH access permission.) If you have a virtual or physical server, you do not need to do SSH access from cPanel; you can SSH into your server as root using the IP address.

IP Blocker

It is possible to block IP addresses you do not want to access your website through cPanel.

You can block a single IP address or block a range of IP addresses by specifying an IP range. The IP address/rule you add is recorded in our .htaccess file.

With the rapid development of the internet and the increase in e-commerce volume, there is a trust problem on all sites where data transfer takes place, especially e-commerce sites. SSL Certificate provides data security by encrypting data sent during data transfer operations between the website (sender) and the counter server (receiver).

To use our SSL certificate, our website must run on a dedicated IP address. Do not forget to request a dedicated IP address when purchasing from your hosting provider.

Before starting the installation, we need to create a mail account named admin@ozgurciftci.com.tr to be able to perform SSL key verifications.

To start the installation, we first create our key from the “Certificate Signing Requests (CSR)” option.

We need to fill in our domain name completely and correctly. There is no correction option if it is wrong; we will need to fill out the form again. We can create our domain with www so our SSL certificate will work with or without www.

We write the mail address we created. (NOTE: If we write a different mail address, the verification email will not arrive.) We create our CSR key with the “Generate” option at the bottom.

After creating the CSR, we can obtain the key from our SSL certificate provider. For standard e-commerce pages or general needs, we make a Positive SSL purchase. Netinternet works with the COMODO company.

We copy the CSR key we created from cPanel and paste it into the relevant field. For “Select the server software”, we need to select “Apache-MODSSL” for cPanel. We need to make the selection according to the Plesk panel or the platform we use. Otherwise, we will create the wrong key and cannot complete our installation.

After completing the SSL purchase, we open our admin email, confirm the key in the mail, and return to the SSL purchase screen on Comodo panel. We download the SSL certificate, open the CRT key, and copy its contents.

We return to cPanel and go to “Manage SSL Sites”. We select our domain and when we click “Install Certificate”, our SSL installation will be complete. For our SSL certificate to be active, our website must be on a dedicated IP address. After the TTL period due to IP address change, our SSL service will start working with the changes to be made on the software side.

**NOTE: On the software side, it is necessary to redirect requests coming as http to https in the .htaccess file.

Hotlink protection is used for files you do not want to be called outside your site. If this feature is active, content with file extensions you add to this rule will not work outside your site.

Click the “Enable” option to the right of “Hotlink protection is currently disabled.” After the service is activated, “jpg, jpeg, gif, png, bmp” extensions will not work outside your site. You can increase these file types from the Hotlink Protection page.

This is the section where we can select the PHP version as desired for our website software.

When we click “Switch to PHP options”, we can view the limits configured for our account on the server and make changes. What is important here is that we need to make changes according to the values defined for our account on the server. These limits and values are communicated to you when purchasing a hosting package.

WHM (Web Host Manager) is a web user interface software that helps end users control hosting and server services in a broader and more comprehensive way. Just as we perform many operations such as SQL installation and adding additional subdomains through cPanel when we own a hosting package, we need WHM panel for opening a hosting package and managing it at a high level.

Services like Reseller and VPS used by many internet users are offered together with WHM service. With this service, users can easily create new hosting packages using cPanel or perform some high-level changes related to their account.

Basic cPanel & WHM Setup

This is the section where contact information is edited, simple settings are made, and nameserver settings are configured. It consists of three sections: All, Contact Information, and Basic Config.

Contact Information

Tab containing the contact information required for the server. There is a phone number and email address field to contact the server when there is a problem.

Basic Config

All information related to basic configuration is here. You can determine which IP address accounts opened on the server will use and set the server’s main IP address. The directory that determines where the hosts you create will be placed is determined by the directory you specify here. Web sites are generally hosted from the /home directory. The default cPanel theme to be used in the hosts you will create can be set here. You can also set the default Webmail theme, minimum user ID size for new accounts, and how Apache logs should be stored.

It is important to write an active and regularly monitored email address. When your server’s disk space is full, some services stop, or problems occur, critical operations for your server such as database problems on your websites are notified by email. This way, you can prevent larger problems from occurring on your server.

Name Server

This section allows you to specify nameservers that establish the relationship between your domain names/domain names and the server. When you install WHM/cPanel on a virtual or physical server, this is one of the first places you need to configure. All domains you create on the server will open with the NS addresses you configured here. The domain name you choose is very important — if your domain name expires, all sites on your server will give DNS errors and stop working because they are linked to that domain name.

For example, to configure ns1.ozgurciftci.com pointing to 95.173.189.2 and ns2.ozgurciftci.com pointing to 95.173.190.2, you need to create a special name server record with your IP addresses at the company where you registered the ozgurciftci.com domain name. Then you can enter the name server fields from your WHM panel and direct the sites on the server to these name server addresses.

Cloudlinux is a paid kernel software especially for web hosting providers that ensures each user on shared servers is assigned a specific CPU and RAM limit and prevents exceeding these limits.

What can you do with Cloudlinux?

• If a server is consuming too much CPU, you can arrange the limits as desired with lve-manager.


• With CageFS, you can put users in a cage. This way, each user has their own space and cannot switch between other accounts.


• With MySQL Governor, you can limit MySQL resource usage.


• With PHP Selector, you can allow each user to choose their desired PHP version.


• With Inode Limits, you can define a disk inode limit for each user.


• With Mod-lsapi, you can gain performance with the LiteSpeed software.


• With OptimumCache, you can create a cache feature.

In the “ID” section, we can view the users on the server. In the other section, we can view real-time RAM usage, CPU usage, and disk write speeds of our users.

If we want to change the limits we have given to a user, we go to “Settings” from the top, select our user, and click “Edit” to change the values. This way, we can give different limits to a single user or create a package and put many users in the same package to use specific limits.

The “Select PHP Version” feature in cPanel comes with Cloudlinux. We can set the PHP version and PHP extensions at the package level from the live manager “Selector” section. This way, we set which PHP versions and which extensions our users can use.

This is the section where server time zone configuration is found. If your server time zone is wrong, errors may occur in your scripts. Therefore, it is a section that needs to be checked.
