Changing the Mail Outbound IP on a cPanel Server

As is well known, sending mail problems from servers due to IP addresses being blacklisted are among the frequently experienced issues. In such cases, the first priority is
to solve the problem permanently and prevent IP addresses from being listed. However, if email is important to you and you need an immediate solution, you will need to change the mail outbound IP address on the server. Now let’s briefly look at how to do this.

Exim Configuration Setting

If you want every site on your server to send mail through the IP address it runs on, you can do this with the “Send mail from account’s dedicated IP address” setting in the Exim Configuration Manager. Setting this to “On” means every site on the server will send
mail through the IP address it runs on. If the sites on the server are distributed across different IP addresses in certain proportions, this is a convenient method. If you want all sites on the server to send mail only through the IP address you specify, you need to
set this option to “Off”.

eximconf

/etc/mailips Setting

If you want mail to be sent out through the IP address you specify, you do this in the /etc/mailips directory on the server. This operation is performed as follows.

nano /etc/mailips

Run this command to open the file. If the setting we just mentioned above in Exim Configuration Manager is in the “On” position, when the file opens you can see the domain names on the server and the IP addresses from which they send mail, listed in order. If the
mentioned setting is “Off” and no setting has been made in this file before, you will see a blank black page. We can edit the contents of this file as follows.

mailips

As you can see in the example image, two different pieces of data have been entered in the file.

  1. On the first line, the mail sending IP address for domainname.com has been set to 192.168.2.90. In this case, only this site on the server will send mail using this IP address.

On the second line, a data entry of ”*” has been made with a different IP address written next to it. In this case, all other sites on the server will send mail using this IP address.

With these two settings, we use one IP address for mail outbound for one of our sites while using a different IP address for all other sites on the server. You can edit the contents of this file as you wish for your own server, making it look like the example
image. If you want to set this manually, don’t forget to set the setting in the Exim Configuration Manager to “Off”. After completing the operations, save and exit the file, then restart the exim service.

Finally, I think it’s worth reminding you. If you don’t want the changes you’ve made to be reset for any reason, I recommend locking the file. You can do this with the following command.

chattr +iA /etc/mailips

MX Record Redirection via cPanel

If we want to move or redirect the mail service provided with the hosting package to a different mail service, we need to perform MX redirection. To summarize, this article will explain
how hosting and mail services can operate from different locations.

We log into the cPanel of the account we want to redirect and navigate to the MX Entry tab from the Mail section.

mx1

mx2

At the top, we see the Local Mail Exchanger and Automatically Detect Configuration
(recommended)
options.

If we want to use the mail service on the hosting side, this section should remain as Local Mail Exchanger. At the same time, we cannot redirect MX while keeping it as Local Mail Exchanger.

At the bottom, there are fields
where we will enter values. Generally, mail MX records are kept as shown in the image. You need to enter the records provided by your mail service provider here. Afterward, check Automatically Detect Configuration at the top to complete the
process.

New Features Coming with cPanel & WHM v54

V54

cPanel announced at its most recent conference that it will make significant changes and innovations in the hosting industry with its new features. The
changes planned in version v54, both in terms of performance and visual design, appear to provide many conveniences when managing your system.

Officials aiming to minimize user issues with version V54 plan to make the biggest change to one of the most beloved
themes, X3. It was said that this theme, which has been in use for 8 years, could no longer meet demands and could not keep up with the company’s innovations.

Tema

We can say that the new theme has a more modern and user-friendly interface with a retro style, and will be
simpler to use compared to the old one.

Password Management;

The company, which stated that the system used to log into cPanel & WHM control panels caused major issues during forgotten or changed password situations, appears to have made an
innovation in this area as well. It announced that users who switch to the OpenID Connect system will be able to log in with their Facebook, Gmail, or Microsoft passwords.

OPENid

Regarding performance-related innovations;

Nginx
caching

Following user requests, nginx — one of the most popular performance tools — will now receive usage support from cPanel.

EasyApache4

EasyApache4, announced in version 11.52, will be offered to users with more features as the primary module
for configuring Apache and PHP settings, starting with this version.

Apache

Mail System Innovations

It was mentioned that Courier Mail Transport Agent, an older mail transfer system used for receiving and delivering
emails, will be replaced by Dovecot — a newer, less resource-intensive and more stable system — with version V54. If you have not yet migrated your system to Dovecot, you can start using these new features simply by updating your
system.

Changes in IP Announcement and IP Distribution Policies

As of August 2019, in order to prevent route leaks and bring IP announcement security and reliability to the highest level in our filtering system for IP address
announcement operations made via BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) — the internet routing protocol — the use of RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) will be made mandatory for existing and newly announced IP addresses.

RPKI is a method that
cryptographically signs records that associate the BGP route announcement for an announced IP address with the correct origin (AS Number). (see RFC6480) The certificate for your IP resources will be
automatically updated for existing and newly allocated IP addresses. All you need to do is create an ROA (Route Origin Authorization) record for your IP resources.

An ROA record contains three pieces of information: the AS number from which the IP subnet is
announced, the maskbit, and the full IP subnet.

At Netinternet:

For IPv4 addresses, the IP subnet and length must be made as /24.

Example Form Data

AS number : AS51559

Prefix : 10.0.0.0/24

Most specific
length allowed 24

For IPv6 addresses, the IP subnet and length must be made as /48.

Example Form Data

AS number : AS51559

Prefix : fd00::2020:a::/48

Most specific length allowed 48

You can access the full
documentation explaining how records are created from the section below.

https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/resource-management/certification/resource-certification-roa-management

As of August 2019, announcements of IP addresses whose ROA records via
RPKI are incorrect will automatically be caught by filters and terminated. We will also separately contact all customers whose records are incorrect or incomplete. Our company cannot be held responsible for any access interruptions caused by changes made to records
in the future.

IP address distribution policy changes have been updated due to our decreasing IP resources and the changes are effective as of June 17, 2019 for all new and existing customers.

According to the new IP distribution policies:

-
Customers renting one or more 47U cabinets with internet bandwidth between 50 and 250 Mbps can rent a maximum of 2 /24 IP addresses, while customers with internet bandwidth greater than 250 Mbps have a limit of 4 /24 IP addresses.

- Customers renting a single
23U cabinet with internet bandwidth between 50 and 250 Mbps can rent a maximum of 1 /24 IP address, while customers with internet bandwidth greater than 250 Mbps have a limit of 2 /24 IP addresses.

- Customers renting a single 15U cabinet with internet bandwidth
between 50 and 250 Mbps can rent a maximum of 1 /25 IP address, while customers with internet bandwidth greater than 250 Mbps have a limit of 1 /24 IP address.

According to the new IP distribution policies, if a customer has two 23U cabinets they are
counted as having rented a full cabinet; if they have 2 x 15U cabinets they are counted as having rented a 23U cabinet; and if they have 3 x 15U cabinets they are counted as having rented a full cabinet.

In cases where the IP addresses allocated to our customers
are not sufficient for them, we would like to remind them that free RIPE membership consultancy is available, or that IP addresses rented through a different LIR can be announced at our data center free of charge, with the necessary technical support also being
provided free of charge.

If you need more information about any of these operations, please contact us.

Respectfully.

Websites Where You Can Create Free Social Media Content

Social media is today’s most popular internet medium. Hundreds of millions of people spend time on social media every day. This has turned social networks into
marketing tools. Companies and brands use these networks to reach their customers or potential customers; newspapers and websites use them to increase their readership; and individuals use them to spread their own ideas to more people. Social media sites are Web 2.0
applications where users create the content. Naturally, text, image, video, audio, and other types of content have become the most important parts of these sites. Content created by users is a tool for reaching more people.

Digital content, depending on its
quality, can make a big impact on the platform it’s used on, motivate people to share it, and provide many other benefits to its creator. Naturally, social media content must be prepared without compromising on quality, suitable for sharing, and according to the
resolution criteria of the platform it is shared on. Graphic design tools (such as Photoshop) are tools used for producing visual content, but not every person or organization may be able to have these graphic tools under a license, or since not everyone is a graphic
designer, they may not be able to produce quality content with these programs. In this article, we will talk about tools through which you can produce visual social media content online without being a graphic designer or needing a graphic design program. Some of
these tools are completely free and some are partially paid, and with these tools it is possible to create social media content in a short time.

Canva

Canva is one of the most popular tools used to create visual content. Standing out with its stock and
free visual capacity, Canva helps create content for many social media sites. Canva can be used not just for preparing social media visuals, but for many graphic design purposes. With Canva, you can prepare social media visuals in the size you want, place the shapes
you want on them, and create visuals that reach the heights of your creativity using different fonts, filters, and shapes. You can purchase stock visuals from Canva’s stock collection to create content, or you can use free visuals. In addition, you can upload visuals
from your computer or phone and work on them. Made available to users as both a web and mobile tool, Canva is a tool you can choose to create social media content with its extensive archive. To try Canva, you can click this link.

Adobe Spark

Another tool for creating social media content is Adobe Spark. With this tool, backed by the power of Adobe, it is possible to prepare great visual social media content in a short time. With Spark, where
you can create social media content in the format you want using free templates, you can create content for many social networks. From the templates on the main page, you select the social network you want and start creating content for it. In the design tool
presented to you, you can use ready-made templates, purchase visuals from Adobe Stock to use, or add images from your computer or cloud storage accounts. With the shapes, texts, and modifications you place on it, it is possible to create effective content in a short
time. The paid option of Adobe Spark, which also has a free version, can be reviewed at this link.

Pablo

Pablo, a free visual creation tool offered by Buffer, is a visual preparation tool that
requires no registration and allows you to create visuals quickly. In just a few steps, you can get to the visual creation section and prepare social media content. Here, you can select one of over 600,000 free visuals on a topic relevant to your content and start
working on it. Like other visual creation tools, you can also upload your own visuals here. However, the visual archive covers many types of needs. You can write text on the selected visual by choosing from various font types, apply a filter to the visual, and
complete your visual with a custom resolution for the platform you want. You can download this visual to your computer in a short time or share it from your social media accounts via Buffer. Pablo can be reviewed at this link.

Snappa

Another tool for creating social media content, Snappa has an advanced interface just like Canva. Not only social media content, but all kinds of graphic design within the provided templates can be done on this site.
You can start designing by choosing one of the preset sizes or by setting your own custom size. You can create the visual by choosing free photos from stock sites like Pexels and Unsplash, or by using ready-made templates. While creating the visual, you can also
upload your own photos to the site and work on them. This way, you can do comprehensive work like a graphic design program. You can place color effects on the visual, write text, add special icons or vectors, and enrich your design with various shapes. Snappa, which
rivals Canva in terms of interface and in some features appears to be even more advanced, allows you to create social media content without needing to know any graphic design program. Snappa can be accessed at this
link
.

Looking at all these websites together, we can say that each one stands out in different ways. If you need to prepare a visual urgently, you can use Pablo; if you want to create a detailed and complex visual, you can use Snappa and Canva; and if you
want a minimalist and original design, you can use Adobe Spark. These sites, which provide great conveniences to those who create and share social media content from many angles, allow you to grow your audience by making posts. You can choose and use any of these
sites, which allow you to prepare original content to quickly grow your audience, according to your needs. Remember that content is king. Given the importance of visual content on social media, it is possible to reach more people using the content you create with
these simple systems.

Postfix Queue Operations

Queue management, one of the areas that needs to be monitored on a Postfix mail server, is one of the management interfaces that should be known for solving problems such as delayed mail delivery
that arise on mail servers. In this article, I will talk about a few code blocks that may come in handy when issues arise.

Here are some features of postqueue, the Postfix mail queue management interface.

To see how many emails are in the mail queue

postqueue -p

This command prints to the screen in a readable format the emails being processed or waiting on your server.

Example output

A0A563005B5* 599 Fri Nov 13 14:43:48 mail@sanalsantral.org
mail@enisozgen.com
– 0 Kbytes in 1 Request.

To force re-sending of emails in the queue

The operation of sending emails that have accumulated in the queue after making any change on the server.

postqueue -f

Deleting emails in the queue

Can be used when too many emails have accumulated in the mail queue, at the risk of possible issues.

postsuper -d ALL

To delete emails from a specific sender in the queue

With this command, you can also manually delete the emails of a user causing problems on your server.

mailq | tail -n +2 | grep -v ‘^ (’ | awk  ‘BEGIN { RS = “” } { if ($8 == “USER@EXAMPLE.COM” && $9 == “”) print $1 } ’ | tr -d ‘!’ | postsuper -d -

To view the advanced queue settings of your configured server

With this command, you can view the settings that come as default in your configuration or that you have configured, more conveniently than from main.cf or master.cf.

postconf -d | grep queue
