As we do every year, we would like to inform you, our valued customers, about what we did in 2018, which we will leave behind in a few days, what changes occurred in our company and infrastructure, and about our investments and new services. We are starting to share the 2018 Z report with the changes in our infrastructure;

We increased our UPS system, which was positioned as one active and two standby in parallel, from three to four, with two active and two independent standby, taking into account our increased capacity. Since the four UPS systems currently work in parallel with each other, each operating at 23.45% load capacity, we are at a level that can provide uninterrupted power even in the extraordinary case of three of them going out of service at once.

We also strengthened our air conditioning system infrastructure, which was positioned as one active and two standby, taking into account our growth rate. In the past spring months, a new generation Emerson Liebert Hiross device with a three-motor dual (3x2) condenser that operates redundantly within itself like our other devices was integrated and the necessary paralleling operation was performed to enable it to work online with other air conditioning systems and activated. Our cooling capacity reached 430KW power (~1.5 Million BTU).

Regarding physical areas, a new corridor was added to our closed corridor smart cabinet systems positioned at intervals appropriate to data center business standards to ensure safe cooling. Considering customer needs, the highest quality products from industry-leading brands such as KAEL, ABB, Schneider Electric were used in our cabinets, all 47U in size, with redundant PDU and precision energy meter.

Towards the end of 2018, while increasing our internet access capacity by 50% to have a larger, wider network bandwidth capacity, we also made the same leap at 100% in DoS-DDoS filtering systems. We started receiving services from domestic operators in addition to foreign operators for DDoS filtering. With these service purchases, we included Netinternet in 2 Tbps (2000 Gbps) filtering capacity for DDoS filtering abroad and 360 Gbps filtering capacity domestically.

The cost of network equipment, servers and all other investments purchased during the year has been calculated at over 1.8 Million Turkish Lira. The www.ilkbyte.com project, which was started in 2017 and completely developed by our company, was completed and went into service. Inspired by overseas examples and developed 100% by Netinternet in Turkey, Ilkbyte offers hourly-billed, easily installable and rescalable SSD-based servers. Ilkbyte, our domestic and national software, is a complete virtualization automation system using KVM virtualization technology.

Netinternet was renewed with version 2.0. With the new version, our website gained new capabilities in many areas with the changed software infrastructure. The domain management system was completely changed. It was reorganized to be much faster and according to user requests, service-specific pages related to service management were added. As soon as our integration with the new payment institution we started working with was completed, many features such as credit card storage, one-touch payment, automatic renewal of selected products with credit card were gained. Netinternet 2.0, which works fully integrated with the network automation system, is completely developed by our company and continues to be developed in line with the requests and feedback of you, our valued customers..

Again, our network automation system, which has been completely developed by our company for approximately 10 years, changed the technologies it uses this year and achieved a performance of more than 10 times. Our system, which was completely rewritten with new programming languages starting to be used within our company, continues to work fully integrated with all operators and operator services we work with using new technologies. Finally, our new network automation system has been made manageable by our customers for their own networks via the internal API.

A new service exclusively for those who want to focus only on their work, Managed Servers, was also offered to our customers this year. Our existing customers and newly joining customers showed tremendous interest in our service. We will continue to develop the scope and features of our Managed Servers service, which is 100% managed and monitored in real time by our technical team, with the feedback of our existing customers in the coming year.

Domain names are registered through our affiliate company ICANN accredited registrar Digivity B.V., and we use the Logicboxes infrastructure, which has proven itself in the domain name industry, as a control panel.

Domain Reseller service works fully integrated with WHMCS software, which is frequently preferred by web hosting companies and which our company is also a partner of. After opening your account, you can request the registrars module for WHMCS from us.

Since all balance loads in the Domain Reseller service will be made through Netinternet, you will not be subject to commission for payments made by bank transfer/EFT! To make it easier for you, our valued customers, in the payment system, we have reactivated the features of registering a credit card to the system to enable automatic payment and loading credit to the system to pay invoices from the credit balance as of 2019. In this article, we will explain how to use these two systems.

Credit Card Storage and Automatic Payment

If you do not have any credit cards registered in the system, it is sufficient to activate the “I want to save my card information.” section on the payment page of an unpaid invoice. After this activation, your card will be registered in the system. You can see your registered card in My Account > Your Account Settings > Your Registered Card and delete it from there if you wish.

After saving your card, automatic payment does not activate for your services. You also need to activate automatic payment for your services. For this, you can list your services from the My Services menu on your panel. When your card is registered in the system, you will see that the “Automatic Payment” button is active in the services list. Simply click the button for the service you want automatic payment for to activate it. Remember, if there is no card registered in the system, you cannot see the automatic payment option.

For services with the automatic payment system active, invoices will be automatically paid 1 day before their due dates. If your invoice is not automatically paid from your card for any reason, the system will send you an informational email. For this reason, follow your informational emails, and if you have a service that was not automatically paid, do not forget to make the payment again or resolve the error. Otherwise, you may experience interruptions in your services due to unpaid invoices.

Credit Loading and Invoice Payment with Credit 

After becoming an e-invoice taxpayer, we had to disable the option to load credit to the system and pay invoices from credit due to infrastructure work. However, after all infrastructure development processes were completed, we reactivated the credit adding and invoice payment from credit option, which many of our customers used, for you.

To load credit to the system, we proceed through the Accounting > Load Credit button. On the page that appears, we enter the amount we want to add through the Add Credit button on the right and make the payment. After payment, you can see the credit amount in your panel. Credit loading to the system is done only in Turkish Lira (TL). You can also pay your invoices in USD from your Turkish Lira credit balance.

To pay an invoice from your credit, simply go to the payment page of your invoice through the Accounting > Unpaid Receipts section. An explanation about your credit balance and the payment process will be presented to you at the top of the credit card payment page. You can pay your invoice from your credit balance with the button below this explanation.

We believe that credit card storage and invoice payment by adding credit will be a great convenience for you, our customers. You will now be able to track and pay your invoices more easily and give or cancel automatic payment instructions whenever you want.

 

You may be wondering how a cabinet can be smart. It is a naming we put to prevent our hosting services from being confused with those of our competitors. Our Smart Cabinet project is live with its first version!

So what is this Smart Cabinet?

Smart Cabinets, developed 100% by Netinternet in terms of software apart from the hardware equipment used, allow you to view live voltage values for each phase separately, your load in amperes, and your consumption amount in KiloWATTs from your panel online. They also allow you to see the ambient temperature where your Smart Cabinet is located in the data center through 2 different temperature sensors, as cold air corridor and hot air corridor. You can also track your energy frequency value online.

In usage information, you can access monthly kWh (kilowatt hour) consumption index information and monitor the monetary value of the consumed energy amount in real time according to your energy unit cost online. All this content viewed online in real time is recorded to the database every five minutes and every night, allowing you to monitor your past usage and plan accordingly.

In Smart Cabinets, alarms are created according to the defined highest and lowest threshold rates for more than twenty values with energy measurement and temperature sensors. With this alarm system, you are prevented from experiencing errors that could hinder business continuity due to negligence. You can access your alarm history and active alarms through your control panel.

The Smart Cabinet system has been activated for all new and existing customers, and you can access the Smart Cabinet screen from under the applications tab on your customer panel.

The “IP Announcement Management” feature, which allows customers who have IP addresses large enough to manage announcements (Minimum single /24, 265 IPs) and receive Firewall service to manage their own announcements, has been integrated into our system.

If you have an IP subnet of /24 size, when you go to the Applications section on the Netinternet customer panel, you will reach the screen above in the IP Management screen for your /24 IP blocks.

Changes to be made are sent directly to the Backbone Router and operations are performed instantly. Updating BGP Route tables across all the World for BGP announcements changed by you may take some time. Operations performed can create temporary momentary interruptions.

Meanings of values in the table;

Telekom: Shows whether your IP address is announced to the Turk Telekom MPLS network and Turk Telekom DDoS services. To make a change, simply click on the colored area that says Open/Closed.

Voxility: Shows whether your IP address is announced on the foreign operator Voxility and in Voxility DDoS services. To make a change, simply click on the colored area that says Open/Closed.

Telekom International: You have the authority to restrict international announcement on the Turk Telekom network. When you open this feature, requests from foreign operators through the Turk Telekom network are cut off. If you want no access from abroad at all, this field must be “Closed” and the Voxility announcement must also be “Closed”. While your IP addresses are announced at a foreign operator, you technically cannot restrict international access. Again, simply click on the colored area that says Open/Closed to make changes.

Voxility Exception: Netinternet network automation systems automatically change IP announcements in extraordinary situations. If you do not want automation to announce you to the Voxility operator under any circumstances, you need to set this feature to “Open”. Again, simply click on the colored area that says Open/Closed to make changes.

Additional Information: If you do not have a Firewall service, you can view the current announcement status but cannot make changes.
 

In our security and firewall services offered to customers for whom business continuity is of great importance, in addition to special devices positioned for service delivery and software produced specifically for the job, services are also obtained from major internet operators.

Netinternet aims to ensure that all management in all technically possible areas of the services provided is in the hands of our users in order to offer the best service experience. Voxility is one of the operators from which we receive services for DDoS prevention purposes. Netinternet allows you to view/edit IP management in terms of firewall, attack reports, and attack logs for your IP addresses announced in Voxility systems from your customer panel.

If you have a Firewall service and your IP address is announced at the Voxility operator, you can see the Voxility Management table in the Applications > IP Management section of your Netinternet customer panel. You must switch to IP Management to change the DDoS protection options for your IP addresses, and to Attack Records to view DDoS attacks launched towards your IP addresses and access log records.

IP Management
Allows you to view the list of IPs under your management along with protection options as shown in the table above. The meanings of the data in the table are below;

Other Operators: More than one operator provides data center internet access. If other operators related to your IP address appear as “Open”, it means your IP announcements are not only made through Voxility, therefore attacks that may come through other operators connected to the data center will not be filtered through Voxility. However, when your IP announcements are announced through Voxility, all access outside of Turkey passes through Voxility.

Status: Shows the current service status, can take two values as “Sensor” or “Always-on”. Sensor indicates that DDoS filtering is not being done, but that it will switch to active protection, i.e., Always-on mode, if any DDoS is initiated. Always-on shows that all incoming requests are filtered regardless of what they are.

Protection Selection: Can take two values as “Sensor” or “Always-on” at your choice. Sensor does not filter incoming requests, only provides protection when DDoS is initiated; Always-on filters all incoming requests regardless of what they are. Constantly using Always-on may slow down your network traffic and cause errors. We do not recommend constant use of Always-on mode. In extraordinary situations, you can manually activate the protection mode this way.

Layer7 Mode: Provides protection at Layer7 level. The best protection is provided with this mode being active, and having the Layer7 service active also slightly slows down network traffic. When Layer7 is active, while simple http-get attacks are blocked with session control, all file transfers towards your network are also protected at the network level against known viruses, trojans, backdoors, sql injection and similar malware and requests.

Layer7 SSL Mode: Allows the same features as Layer7 to be applied to encrypted SSL traffic as well. For this, you need to perform the “SSL Setup” operation through the “Edit” menu. If you do not do this, a default but non-valid SSL certificate will be used in place of SSL certificates used in all your encrypted traffic. You can define one SSL for each IP address.

Operation: You can upload the necessary files for “SSL Setup” through the “Edit” menu in the operations table, and change the “Protection Selection”, “Layer7 Mode”, “Layer7 SSL Mode” options in the table through the “Options” section.

Attack Records
This section lists DDoS attacks launched towards IP addresses in the selected IP range in your IP management in the last 2 days. The meanings of the data in the table are below;

Attack Recipient: Shows the IP address under attack in the selected IP range.

Start: Shows the date the attack started in UTC format. You need to add +3 hours to evaluate according to Turkey time.

Duration: Indicates the duration of the attack; if the attack is ongoing, it shows this additionally with the “Ongoing” statement in the duration table.

Action: Shows the filtering method of the attack. This table takes the values “Filter ON”, “Filter always ON”. Filter ON shows a transition from sensor mode, Filter always ON shows a transition from continuous protection.

Attack Type: This is the technical information screen about the incoming attack. It is for professional users.

Details: A sample 300-line log record related to the incoming attack is displayed from the “View” section in this table. A sample view is below.

The meanings of the data in the table for the sample log record displayed above are below;

Nano Time: Shows the time the log record was taken in UTC format in nanoseconds.

Source IP:Port: Shows the IP address from which the attack was initiated and the outgoing port.

Destination IP:Port: Shows the IP address under attack and the port.

Other Fields: For professional users. “TCP Flags”, “Length IP”, “Payload”, “Proto”

Along with 2019, we made an update that will please our customers at a time when the AKN (fair use point) has been removed in our country and is being heavily discussed.

With the spread of broadband internet access at home and in workplaces and the spread of 4.5G speed in our country, websites have started to consume more traffic than before. Projects and websites that keep up with developing technology sometimes had to use servers even if they did not need them, just to meet the increasing traffic consumption. To prevent projects from using servers solely due to high traffic consumption and to provide cost benefits, we reviewed and significantly increased the traffic limits in our web hosting and reseller hosting packages.
