Adding an A Record for Nameserver

If you have a server, whether virtual or physical, you need to have the nameserver addresses to which the domain names on your server will be pointed registered on the server. You need to
add an A record on the server for these registered nameserver addresses.

A Record

When you log in to the Edit DNS Zone section via the WHM left menu, the page that appears will list the sites registered on the server. From this list, select the domain name you are using as your nameserver addresses and click the Edit button to enter it.

When you enter, all DNS record information related to the relevant domain name will appear. At the bottom of this page, there are empty fields where you can add new DNS records. From these fields, you can create records such as A records, MX records, and CNAME
records.

A Record

To add an A record, you need to proceed as shown in the image above. In the first field, type only “ns1” and enter the IP address assigned for ns1.yourdomain.com next to it; in the second field, type “ns2” and enter the IP address assigned for ns2.yourdomain.com.
After completing the operations, you can save it with the “Save” button at the bottom.

Account Creation Status: failed Error

One of the errors encountered when deleting and recreating an account in WHM panel (cPanel) is the “username already exists error”. The way to overcome this is to
delete the username and domain from the cache. By making an SSH connection and searching for the domain’s username in the following files, you need to delete the relevant lines.

Account Creation Status: failed

This system already has a database owner named “USERNAME”.

/var/cpanel/databases/users.db
/etc/dbowners

Addon Domain Addition Error (Sorry, the domain is already pointed...)

During the Addon Domain addition process, which is one of cPanel’s features, you may receive an error like the one below related to NS addresses. If
you do not point the nameserver addresses of the site you want to add as an Addon Domain to the server you want to add it to, cPanel will not allow you to add the domain name and will show the following error.

Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to
/etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

After this error, you need to do one of the following two steps to be able to add your domain name.

1- You can point the nameserver addresses to the NS addresses of the server you want to add your domain to, through the company where you registered your domain.

2- You need to register the IP addresses of your domain’s current NS addresses in the /etc/ips.remotedns directory mentioned in the error. If you are using a server with root access, you can do this operation. However, if you are using a shared
server, you will need to request this operation from your hosting company. Not every hosting company may perform this operation.

Addon Domain Addition Problem

If you are encountering the error below, it means the NS records of the domain you want to add as an Addon Domain are not pointed to the server you want to add it to. To add an Addon Domain
in cPanel, you must first have pointed the NS records of the domain you want to add.

Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns
and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

What Is Addon Domain? How to Add It? (Add-on Domains)

An addon domain allows you to control and publish more than one domain name from a single control panel. Although the websites are controlled from the same control
panel, they operate independently from each other. However, all sites share the resources of the hosting service being used.

Warning: The NS addresses of the domain name you want to add must be pointed to the hosting account.

How to Add an Addon Domain (Add-on Domain)?

For a domain name to be added as an Addon Domain, the Nameserver addresses must first be pointed to the server. The Addon Domain section is available in cPanel. Log in to this section. In newer cPanel versions, it has been renamed Addon
Domains
.

addon1

When you log in, you will see a page like the one below. You need to fill in the required fields on this page.

addon2

New Domain Name: Enter the add-on domain name you want to add here.

Subdomain/FTP Username: This is the username that will be used to connect to the FTP account of the domain you added. cPanel fills this in automatically, but you can change it if you wish.

Document Root: This is the directory on FTP where you will install the site for your add-on domain. cPanel will fill it in automatically in the format public_html/directoryname. You can change the directory name if you wish.

Password: Set the FTP password for the domain you added. Do not choose a simple password. You can use the Password Generator for a strong password.

Password (Again): Re-enter the password you created for verification.

When you complete these operations, you will see that a file path has been created on FTP under the name of the Document Root you created. Now you can enter this directory and proceed with the installation for your add-on domain.

Good luck.

cPanel Mail Forwarding

Forwarder means redirecting. We can forward the mail sent to one mail account to a different mail account. To forward emails coming to a specific email address, we use “Add Forwarder”; to forward
all emails coming to your domain name, we use “Add Domain Forwarder.” Below, “Add Forwarder” is used as an example.

Mail

It consists of 2 sections: “Address” and “Destination.” In the address section, we write the address from which we receive the emails and select our domain. The destination is the address to which our emails will be forwarded. When we click Add Forwarder, we can
see it in the section below.

Domain Name Transfer Processes

Domain Name Registration

There is only one center in the world that manages domain name registration operations, and that center is ICANN. ICANN grants registrar authorization to companies so they can register domain names. Our company is not a direct registrar. We work with Resellerclub
for domain name registration operations. Our company provides services as a reseller customer of Resellerclub, and all registered domain names are registered through this company.
New registration operations are made through Resellerclub. However, there was also Alantron, a company we previously worked with that had registered domain names. New registrations are no longer made from this company. But renewals for domain names registered with
this company continue to be processed through this company.

Domain Name Transfer

Registered domain names can be moved between registrar companies. This transfer process is called a domain transfer. Domain name transfers are done in two ways.

  • Standard Transfer

  • Internal Transfer

Standard Transfer

A standard transfer is an operation carried out between two registrar companies using a transfer code. Each domain name has its own transfer code, called an EPP code. Domain name owners can transfer their domain names to a different registrar using the EPP code.
For a domain name to be transferred to a different company, the transfer lock and whois information must first be unlocked. If either of these is locked, the domain name transfer cannot be completed. A domain name transfer is completed in several steps, which can be
explained as follows.

Transfer Initiation Request

First, the EPP code is obtained from the company where the domain name is registered. Using this code, a transfer request is made through the new company to which the domain name is to be transferred.
After this request, a confirmation email for initiating the transfer is sent to the email address registered to the domain name. Once the Transfer Confirmation Link in the confirmation email is clicked, the domain name transfer process begins.

What Is an EPP Code?

An EPP code is a security code commonly used in domain name transfers. When you want to transfer your domain name from one company to another, you need to use the EPP (transfer) code. You cannot transfer a domain name to a different company without your domain
name’s EPP code.

Transfer Process

After the domain name transfer confirmation is given, the transfer is carried out between the two registrars. There is no interruption to the domain name during this time. The site on the domain name continues to work without issues; however, you cannot point the
domain name’s NS addresses during this period.
The domain name transfer is completed between the two registrars in an average of 7-10 days. Once the domain name transfer is completed, the old company no longer has the authority to manage the domain name. All operations related to the domain name are performed
through the new company.
A 1-year transfer fee is charged for a domain name transfer. In return for this fee, once the domain name transfer is completed, the domain name’s registration period is extended by 1 year.
After the domain name transfer process begins, if there is a condition preventing its completion, the transfer is automatically cancelled within 5 days. The registrar company sends an informational email for the cancelled transfer. Once the problems causing the
transfer to be cancelled are resolved, the transfer process is restarted.

Internal Transfer

An internal transfer is the process of transferring a domain name from one account to another within the same registrar.
For example, many hosting companies like ours work with Resellerclub. To transfer a domain name purchased from a different company that also uses the Resellerclub infrastructure to our company, the internal transfer method must be used. If a standard transfer process
is initiated, the transfer will not proceed and will result in an error.
For an internal transfer, the person needs to provide the new company — to which they want to transfer their domain — with their information at the old company. It would be helpful to explain this with a brief example.
One of our customers, who has 10 domain name registrations with us, wants to transfer a different domain name from Company A to our company. Since Company A also uses the Resellerclub infrastructure, in order to initiate the internal transfer process, we need to
provide our customer with their Customer ID and email address on Resellerclub. The information that needs to be provided on Resellerclub is as follows.

  • Customer ID

  • Email Address

Our customer will give these two pieces of information to the company where the domain name is registered and will request an internal transfer. When Company A completes the internal transfer, the domain name will immediately come under our control. There is no
need to wait 7-10 days as in the standard transfer process.
Some companies do not allow internal transfers. However, our company does allow this process.

Can I Change My Domain Name?

The domain name registration procedure is determined by ICANN. According to this procedure, domain name registrars cannot change registered domain names. For this reason, once a domain name is
registered, no changes can be made to it. No changes can be made to the registered domain name or its extension. It can only be deactivated in the system. If you want to change your domain name, you need to place a new order.
